Stress
Stress is a feeling that arises when there is pressure. Although a small amount of presssure can be positive, for example it can improve your motivation, application and productivity; too much prolonged pressure can lead to chronic stress, which can have detrimental effects on your physical and mental health.
Stress causes the release of chemicals that invoke the 'fight or flight' feelings that help us to deal with stressful situation. In some situations, however, where fighting or escaping are not possible, these chemicals are not used and can accumulate causing, in some cases, physical, mental and/or emotional difficulties.
